Introduction

0:00Welcome to the skill Microsoft Teams Overview.

0:02You're actually watching the first skill in the course,

0:04and the first thing we'll do is go over the MS721 exam.

0:08And before we jump into the exam topics or the exam blueprint,

0:11I want to spend a rest of the skill with

0:14an overview of some of these services that Microsoft Teams

0:17provides from the aspect of collaboration.

0:19Keep in mind that this first skill is strictly an overview.

0:22Later in the course, we're going to dive a lot deeper and

0:25configure so many items with their Microsoft Teams.

0:27Let's see what topics you and I recover in this skill.

0:31So first you and I will go over the MS721 exam.

0:34That being the Microsoft 365 Certified

0:37Collaboration Communications System Engineer Associate.

0:41I don't know about you, but some of these titles

0:43will gain longer and longer.

0:44So in that video, we'll see how we can find out information

0:47about the exam, how we can schedule it,

0:49how we can look at the exam topic.

0:51We also see once you achieve the certification,

0:53it's good for 12 months.

0:54But we'll also talk about the steps we have to take

0:56in order to renew our certification.

1:00Then we spend a rest of the skill looking at the overview

1:03of different Microsoft Teams topics.

1:06So we'll look at Team Meetings and Events.

1:08We'll also look at Teams Phones, Auto Attendance,

1:10Call Cues.

1:12The different Team Clients.

1:14We'll also take a trip to the Microsoft Store

1:16and take a look at Team Rooms along with Team Phones.

1:19If you find that you are quite familiar with these services

1:23already offered by Microsoft Teams,

1:25then you can sit back and watch this skill

1:27over a cup of coffee.

1:28And you can move on to a next skill

1:30where we start diving into these exam topics.

1:32So with that, I thank you for allowing me

1:34to be part of your journey.

1:35And I'll see you in next video.

Understanding Microsoft MS-721 Exam

0:00Welcome to the first video in the course Microsoft 365 collaboration

0:04communications system engineer in this video

0:06We're going to look over the exam how we can look at the blueprint of what's

0:10covered in the exam

0:11And also discuss how we can go about renewing a certification. Let's get

0:14started in that end

0:15So let's go straight to the source to Microsoft's page and

0:19Here we have the certification. They were going to cover

0:23The Microsoft 365 collaboration communication system engineer associate

0:28I don't know about you, but it's a lot of words to have an entitled

0:31We see that we have to demonstrate the skills to configure deploy

0:35monitor and manage Microsoft Teams phones meetings and certified devices

0:40So as we scroll down a bit

0:44So we see this is an intermediate certification

0:47And this exam really focuses on Microsoft 365

0:50We also see the role here that this exam targets

0:55And we also see back to renew the certification either once a year or every 12

0:59months

0:59More about and how you and I renew that certification shortly

1:03So scrolling down a bit more and here we see an overview of the different

1:08technologies that you and I are expected to know about

1:10So we have teams phone teams meetings teams premium

1:14We have co-pilot and how it interacts with teams along with team rooms and

1:19other certified and supported devices

1:22All right, so scrolling down a bit more

1:24We can see that we can schedule the exam we also see the current price at the

1:30time of this recording in US dollars and

1:33If we scroll down a little bit more

1:36So we see here that we have our study guide which is our blueprint or a

1:40document that we contain the topics that will be covered within the exam

1:44We also have our certification poster

1:48So clicking on the poster and here we see the different certifications that we

1:53can obtain from Microsoft

1:54So here we see they are divided into infrastructure data AI modern work for

1:59example or business applications or security

2:02Then we see that categories that apply to all these certifications in regard to

2:06fundamentals

2:07role-based or specialty

2:10So this would be a document that will bookmark or download

2:13Because throughout your career you may be interested in obtaining different

2:17certification from Microsoft

2:19So the Microsoft 365 collaboration communication system engineer also known as

2:24the MS7 21

2:26Was under the modern work section and it's a role-based certification

2:31Now possibly you were with me James and Simone now here at CBT Nuggets as we

2:37went over the MS 700 certification

2:39And this exam had a section

2:43manage meetings and quality and

2:45Here we dove into managing meetings

2:50Looking at different policies at conference bridges

2:54Along with services and phone numbers for Microsoft Teams phone

2:58So this exam here might have given you your first exposure to the Microsoft

3:03collaboration environment

3:05So in this course they've been the MS7 21 you and I would dive deeper

3:11Alright, so going back to that previous page

3:13Let's go ahead and look at our study guide

3:15And here we can see more information about the exam which was updated recently

3:21Which at the time of this recording was a couple days ago?

3:24In fact, I did sit for the exam that very same day on July 22nd

3:29And I can say it's a very fair exam and my goal here is to help you do the same

3:32as the MS7 21

3:34So scoring down a bit more. I want to look at the exam topics

3:39So I want to go to

3:41these skills at a glance here

3:44When we see the sections right here and some vendors like Cisco call you

3:49domains Microsoft Cosm skills

3:51Now we also see the percentages applied to each section

3:55And then we scroll down a little bit more. We see these subtopics. They are

3:59continuing within each skill and each section

4:01Now I will definitely copy and paste this into a document that you can access

4:06regularly

4:07Now you have keywords here like plan and recommend and some topics have other

4:12keywords

4:13And I scroll down a bit more

4:15Like configure and create

4:19But I've paid attention to the keywords as you're looking at the topics that

4:23are covered for this exam

4:24Now Microsoft also does a good job of telling you what change when the update

4:30the exam

4:30So in fact, I'm looking for the section where it tells you about the updates

4:36So in fact, they don't point them out directly, but here we can see skills

4:41measured prior to July 22nd

4:43Now if I scroll all the way back to the top which you see a section here

4:49For skills measured as of July 22nd

4:52So we can use the information to either determine what's no longer covered or

4:58what now is a new topic on the exam

5:01So so far we covered what the exams are about along with where you can find

5:05more information about the exam

5:07We also saw what we could find the exam blueprint or what's covered on the exam

5:12We also saw that we have to renew this verification every 12 months as far as

5:16prerequisites go

5:18So we should have some experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams

5:23Along with some basic knowledge when it comes to networking

5:28Along with telecommunications voice-in video and identity and access management

5:33So this would be managing our user accounts with their Microsoft 365

5:37R-back or role-based access control

5:40So now let's talk about how you and I would renew our certification

5:44So Microsoft actually has a nice renewal process

5:48You see that the renewals are actually free you heard me correctly. There's no

5:54clause to renew use of a vacation

5:57The only requirement is that we have to pass the online assessment before the

6:00certification expires

6:02Here we see some takeaways from the assessment is not your traditional jam

6:07Because it focuses on the latest technology changes

6:10The assessment is shorter compared to the exam. It's also open book

6:15And we can retake it as many times as we want

6:18Then it can be out there as if we have to wait 24 hours between retakes

6:22So we can see here that Microsoft really gives you every opportunity to renew

6:26your certification

6:27The one thing you have to do is take an assessment and really be knowledgeable

6:32on the latest technology changes

6:34So let's say we pass our exam on July

6:3722nd 2024

6:40Then since months pass by

6:43It will be January 22nd

6:472025 Microsoft would notify you via email

6:51You have six months to renew that certification

6:54So I would have up to July 22nd of 2025 to pass the assessment

7:01Then once I pass the assessment and renews my certification for an additional

7:0512 months

7:06So in this video we had an overview of the certification

7:11We also took a look at where to find information like the exam blueprint

7:14And we also spoke about the prerequisites along with the renewal process

7:19[BLANK_AUDIO]

Teams Meetings and Events Overview

0:00So in this video we'll take a look at team meetings and events from a thousand

0:03for view.

0:04Later in the course we dive deeper and configure these items with their

0:07Microsoft Teams.

0:08For now it's simply a refresher on what Microsoft Teams meetings and events can

0:12do for us in our

0:13environment. Team meetings give us the opportunity to connect with either our

0:18coworkers to folks

0:19inside our organization or maybe folks outside our organization like maybe

0:24customers.

0:27So first we have scheduled our private meetings. Let's say this user here is in

0:32Manager.

0:32Maybe she needs to connect with a remote user on her team.

0:37Maybe she has a monthly meeting with her team and that meeting occurs every

0:43Tuesday of every month.

0:44We also have channel meetings. Maybe these employees here are project managers

0:50and they have a project

0:51management team channel. So we have the option within that team channel to get

0:56a schedule meeting

0:57or have the ability to have an unplanned meeting and just spin one up for

1:01everyone within that

1:02channel to join. We also have instant meetings. That's where this user may have

1:08a chat going with

1:09this user here about some document that they're working on. They have the

1:13ability within that

1:14chat to spin up a meeting immediately. Now you might have heard the term ad hoc

1:20meeting.

1:22This is a meeting that's not scheduled so it's unplanned or spontaneous. Now

1:28maybe you are in a

1:29support role when there's a system down or maybe a certain alert is received.

1:34You have to jump on

1:36on a conference bridge because in that scenario no one planned a scheduled

1:40meeting in anticipation

1:41of a hard drive going down on a server. So with teams meetings we can schedule

1:47one via your calendar.

1:50You have the ability to start a meeting via your team's channel or via a group

1:57chat.

1:58Now we also have breakout rooms. So here we have 12 people in the same meeting.

2:07So let's say this

2:07was a classroom environment where the teacher is giving the students a

2:13presentation by a certain

2:15topic then eventually we have to break out into these smaller groups. And this

2:19will allow these

2:20smaller groups to focus on the project that they're working on. It's very

2:24useful because all 12

2:25people don't have to be in the same meeting trying to talk over each other as

2:29they discuss

2:30their own projects at the work now. So you may say this in an educational

2:34environment

2:35or maybe your employer gives workshops and maybe you are part of a workshop

2:40with team building

2:42so they break you up into smaller groups. Maybe we're having a brainstorming

2:47session.

2:47The one large group is being broken into smaller groups so they can better

2:52collaborate with each

2:53other. So maybe this is good for team meetings. So let's say initially we had a

3:00company wide

3:01meeting and now we have the network team broken out into a group, a server team

3:07into another group

3:09security along with this type. Once again this gives the individual teams

3:15their own space to talk about topics that pertain to them.

3:19We also have teams webinars and a webinar can also help to a thousand attendees

3:26. So we can go

3:26with a webinar in the event that we have to reach a large audience. So maybe we

3:30have a company wide

3:32meeting or maybe this is a public webinar. So here we could be showcasing a new

3:38widget

3:39that our company made. Now we have the option here to have live polls or maybe

3:45a question

3:46and answer session along with the ability to do surveys. But what if we need

3:53their larger space

3:54to hold a meeting? We have the option for teams to on halls. So we can see that

4:01we have

4:01the ability to have either 10,000 attendees or 20,000 attendees. We have the

4:06option to do 20,000

4:08attendees. If we have the team's premium add on and we'll discuss team's

4:13premium in a later

4:14scale, we'll just know that 20,000 number is associated with the team premium

4:19add on.

4:19So a ton hall is really good when we have a small number of presenters and also

4:25we don't need any

4:26interaction by chat or voice conversation. In fact the attendees for this ton

4:34hall don't even

4:36enable their cameras or their microphones. The attendees will use the question

4:40and answer session

4:42to interact with the presenters or their meeting organizers.

4:45Next we have virtual appointments. So maybe this person here is attending a

4:53virtual appointment

4:54for a job interview. And these are the folks that would interview him for a job

4:58. So for virtual

5:00appointments we have the ability to schedule along with view and manage

5:04appointments and even have

5:06the ability to send out appointment reminders. You can even have a calendar

5:11here that can get

5:14folks the ability to book an appointment. So a job interview is one example of

5:18this,

5:18but maybe this could be used for health care. So doctors and therapists and

5:24other professionals

5:25can conduct a virtual appointment. Maybe you have a financial advisor. So here

5:31we can have a virtual

5:33appointment to discuss how you can invest your heart or money. Maybe it's for a

5:38legal consult.

5:39So possibly you had a life event occur and therefore you need to talk to a

5:44lawyer of some sort.

5:45But we can do so via a virtual appointment. So in this video we saw that many

5:50types of meetings

5:51that we could have with your Microsoft Teams. So once again this was an

5:54overview of the different

5:55ways that we can communicate and later welcome figure many of these elements

5:59within Microsoft Teams.

Teams Phone Overview

0:00Rhett and I will go over the Microsoft Teams phone

0:02which gives us a complete quality solution for our environment.

0:05Microsoft Teams phone is a cloud-based telephony solution.

0:10So users have the ability to make and receive calls

0:13from pretty much anywhere.

0:14They can do so by using a Microsoft Teams app.

0:18So with Teams phones, we have a quality solution

0:20along with other features like chat,

0:24video conferencing,

0:28along with function.

0:30So folks have the ability to use the type of functionality

0:35from the desktop, the laptop, the mobile devices,

0:38tablets and also team phones or team room devices.

0:41So let's explore different ways that we can use Teams phones.

0:47So one of them is Teams phones with calling plans.

0:50My calling plans are offered directly from Microsoft

0:53and we can subscribe to these calling plans.

0:57And a calling plan is something that we can subscribe to

0:59as an organization.

1:01Now since we are subscribing to a calling plan

1:03that's provided by Microsoft,

1:05there is no need for third-party providers.

1:08These calling plans include minutes

1:12that give us the ability to make our bound phone calls

1:16from our organization.

1:17So we have plans that offer us domestic calling

1:24and/or international calling.

1:27So with domestic calling, we're making phone calls

1:31within the same country that we reside in.

1:34Then with international calling,

1:36this involves making phone calls from our country

1:38to a different country.

1:40We also have access to voicemail,

1:43along with features like call transfer,

1:47call hold and call 40.

1:49We also have access to emergency calling,

1:55so these are calls for local services

1:57like for firefighters or the police or for medical services.

2:01We also have analytics and reporting capabilities.

2:05And then we have an option to pay as you go.

2:09So here the amount that we're being charged

2:12is based on the calls they're being made.

2:14What's nice about the calling plans

2:17is that there is no need for infrastructure in my environment.

2:21So I don't need the SPC, I don't need a contract with ITSP,

2:25it's all done through Microsoft.

2:26Now we also have operator connect.

2:31So normally if I wanted a connection to ITSP,

2:35I would have to set that up contact-wise,

2:39along with infrastructure wife through a third party.

2:42But instead of dealing with third party,

2:44I deal with Microsoft.

2:45But Microsoft has a list of approved

2:49telecommunication providers that I can deal with.

2:52Let's go ahead and check out a list

2:53of approved vendors through Microsoft.

2:56So you will see here this list is quite long.

2:58We have a long list of vendors

3:01that have been approved by Microsoft.

3:03So I can filter this list here, pay country.

3:07So let's say I pick the United States,

3:10you can see here, this is a long list of countries

3:14across the globe.

3:17So I pick US, the offer, I can choose from calling,

3:21conference center mobile, I'll do calling.

3:23So at this point, I have narrowed down my search

3:27for companies that I can use with operator connect.

3:31So we can see COTS businesses here, along with AT&T,

3:36Verizon should be here also, as we see right there.

3:40But the takeaway is that we can use one of these

3:42approved vendors to provide calling services directly

3:46to our team's phone users.

3:47We also have team phones mobile.

3:51Their users can make a receive phone call

3:55using their mobile device through the Microsoft Teams app.

3:59So here folks can use their existing mobile data plan

4:02or their Wi-Fi connection.

4:04Now we also have direct routing.

4:07So let's say in my case, I had a SPC

4:11or a system border controller.

4:14And I had a connection to an ITSP.

4:16Maybe I have infrastructure in place

4:19that has a support contract for so many years.

4:23So in my example, three years,

4:27and I cannot terminate that contract without paying a fee.

4:30Maybe I have a contract with the ITSP

4:32and also I have a contract with them for three years.

4:36Once again, my organization doesn't want to terminate

4:38that contract, but there's fees involved.

4:41So with direct routing, I can connect my SPC

4:45to Microsoft Teams.

4:47So I can use a feature there offer by Microsoft Teams,

4:50but for up on calls, I want to route a call

4:53outside of my environment.

4:54So here I'm using my existing infrastructure

4:58and my existing telecom provider to make up on calls.

5:01So maybe my company has a thousand full numbers

5:06and maybe integrating these full numbers

5:08for Microsoft Teams is a challenge

5:10for whatever reason.

5:12So direct routing once again allows us to use

5:14our own premises, infrastructure,

5:16and telecom provider for up on calls.

5:18Now we also have emergency calling.

5:22Now we teams really have dynamic emergency calling.

5:26What this means in the event is an emergency

5:28for whatever reason, because you could have users

5:32all over the city or state or country.

5:35Microsoft Teams phone will route that call

5:38to the appropriate emergency response team

5:40based on that user's location.

5:42Let's say this user is really in Tampa, Florida,

5:46but maybe for the weekend, I go to a conference

5:50in Miami, Florida, and if something happens

5:54where I need to acquire emergency services,

5:56when I make that call, dynamic emergency calling

5:59routes that call to the emergency response team

6:02in Miami, Florida, not Tampa, Florida.

6:05And it's super critical because for dealing

6:07with people's lives.

6:09Now that I make emergency calling,

6:11can also provide real-time location tracking

6:15that can be sent to emergency responders.

6:18So it's a great feature where some makes a call

6:22to emergency services, and for a reason they stop talking,

6:26maybe they fainted, we're able to track that user

6:30and provide the help they need.

6:31So in this video, you and I went over a Teams phone overview.

6:35You saw that Teams phone is a cloud-based

6:38telephony solution.

6:39We also saw that there are many ways

6:41to communicate with the outside world

6:43if we're recording plans, operate, reconnect,

6:46Teams phone mobile, or using direct routing.

6:49Once again, we dive deeper and configure

6:50some of these services, we live in the course.

Auto Attendants and Call Queues Overview

0:00So in this video, we'll discuss auto attendance and call queues. Most of the

0:03time in our environments,

0:04when we have an incoming call, we want the destination to be someone so they

0:08can pick up the phone.

0:09Microsoft Teams gives us the additional flexibility to handle those incoming

0:13calls a little bit

0:14differently. We can use call queues and auto attendance. So let's dive in and

0:18see what these

0:18features are about. So auto attendance and call queues provide additional

0:23methods to handle incoming

0:25calls into our organization. Let's say you have a support team here. And they

0:32are the first

0:32interaction a customer would encounter would call in for support. Now what

0:37occurs if we have a

0:38scenario here where all four folks are currently on active call. And so then

0:42the next customer

0:43calls into our environment. How exactly would we be able to handle that call

0:47until a next available

0:49team member is ready to talk to that customer. So we call queues, we have the

0:54ability to place

0:55that call into a queue. And here, the caller can hear a custom greeting or

1:03maybe music on hold.

1:05Or maybe we can play back an estimated wait time to the caller setting an

1:10expectation of when

1:11they call probably or should be answered. So our caller is placed into this

1:16queue anytime

1:18the team members are all busy. So currently on an active call, maybe they're

1:22unavailable.

1:23So for whatever reason, they're not able to answer a call and call queues are

1:28perfect to handle

1:29situations where you have high call volume. So let's say two minutes pass by

1:35and this person

1:36becomes available. Then the caller is taken from that queue and then routed to

1:41that person

1:41who not can answer the call and interact with the customer. So we call queues

1:48with the Microsoft

1:48Teams. We have the ability to report on items such as the number of calls in

1:53queue, average wait time,

1:54how many calls were not answered or missed. So this would be performance

1:59metrics that apply to

2:00that queue. Now we also have auto attendance. Let's say these refocus here are

2:06responsible for

2:08taking calls for certain departments like sales, support and billing. Then we

2:12have this user here

2:13that simply has an extension. So with the auto attendance, when someone wants

2:18to call in to our

2:19environment, they will be provided with a menu. So this should be an automated

2:24menu. It will play

2:25a greeting and will provide the caller with some options that they can choose

2:28from. So maybe option

2:31one is for the sales department. Option two would be for support. Option three

2:38would be for billing.

2:40Then possibly we could give the option to dial by extension or dial by name.

2:46And also you could have option seven that may play prompt like the directions

2:53to your business

2:55or whatever message you want that call or here. So here someone could call into

2:59your environment,

3:01choose a certain option off your auto attended and then be routed to a

3:05department or to a certain

3:07individual by dying their name or their extension. This will reduce the

3:11workload for your staff

3:13because the call is being routed to the correct destination. And also it

3:17provides the caller a

3:18better experience because the caller can be routed once again to the correct

3:22destination

3:23when I've talked into two or three different people along the way being

3:26transferred every

3:27single time. So in this video, we discussed the functionality of auto

3:31attendance and call

3:32kids within Microsoft Teams. These two features give us additional methods and

3:37our incoming calls

3:38into our environment.

Teams Clients Overview

0:00So, next year, we'll discuss the different types of Teams clients that we can

0:03have in our environment.

0:04We'll find out that we have many ways to access Microsoft Teams

0:07either as well as physical device or through a browser.

0:09Let's get started and dive in.

0:11So, Microsoft Teams or clients can be split up into two groups.

0:15We have end-user devices along with other Team devices.

0:19So, first, we'll talk about desktops on laptops.

0:22Now, we have two flavors of the Teams desktop client.

0:28We have the classic version along with the new version.

0:34So, classic is our older interface and the new version, as you will guess by

0:38the name, is our newer interface.

0:40For Microsoft, claim that the new version has better performance, reliability,

0:45and enhanced security.

0:47So, this new version is the Team's desktop client that Microsoft will continue

0:52to improve on and enhance.

0:54So, in fact, let me show you a couple websites.

0:58So, here we have classic Microsoft Teams.

1:02In fact, here's a note that the new Microsoft Teams desktop client is now

1:08available.

1:08When we focus on, we support the operating systems.

1:12So, we have 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

1:15We have Windows Server, we have macOS, we also have Chrome OS,

1:20and also not noted here, you can also run it in minutes.

1:23So, if we take a look at the new Microsoft client and scroll down a bit.

1:29So, we can see new Teams is available for the Windows client, the Mac client,

1:36along with the web.

1:36Now, here what we don't see is any information for the Linux operating system.

1:41So, not to say it's not possible, but you have to run the web version via a

1:46supported browser.

1:47Also, let me take you to a different site here.

1:50At the time of this recording is July 25th, 2024, and if I scroll down a bit,

1:56first I want to point out that some of these timelines that we're about to

2:00discuss

2:00do not apply to certain accounts.

2:03So, GCC is the government community cloud.

2:07So, this could be a public sector or contractors that handle government data.

2:11We have GCC-H, which is government community cloud high.

2:16So, this would be your federal agencies, your defense contractors.

2:20We also have DOD, the Department of Defense.

2:23And you also could have EDU, which is for education, or special cloud.

2:29It is really focused on certain industries or those organizations that have

2:34special requirements.

2:35The takeaway being is to check your contract to ensure that these timelines

2:39either do or do not apply to you.

2:41So, if I scroll down a bit more,

2:44I want to show you that as of July 1st, 2024, which is already passed in my

2:50case,

2:50plastic teams will reach the end of support.

2:53And then I scroll down a little bit more.

2:56We'll get to a different section here for the unsupported operating systems.

3:01So, here we see 107.8 and 8.1.

3:04In the event you cannot update your windows to a higher version,

3:08we can see here that you can use a new Teams web app in a supported browser.

3:13And then we see another date here.

3:15It started in July 1st, 2025.

3:18So, in my case, a year from now, classic teams will start working on Windows 10

3:23,

3:23along with older Mac operating systems.

3:26And once again, we have another reminder here, those users that cannot upgrade

3:31to new Teams

3:31on their devices can use a new Teams web app and a supported browser instead.

3:36So, our takeaway here is that there are two versions of the Teams that sub-cl

3:40imb,

3:40classic and also new.

3:42So, in many cases, you'll be running the new version unless you have a contract

3:46with Microsoft

3:46that allows you to run the classic version.

3:49Now, we also have the ability to run Microsoft Teams on our mobile devices.

3:55So, this could be phones or this could be tablets.

3:58But this definitely is a great option, especially if you don't have a desktop

4:03nearby.

4:03So, here we can still make calls.

4:05We can still chat with folks.

4:07We can attend our meetings.

4:09So, you would download the app for either your Android or your Apple device.

4:15We have to ensure that we're running the later versions of either Android or

4:20iOS software.

4:21Those are the flexibility of running Microsoft Teams on one of our supported

4:26browsers.

4:27This is all made possible via the WebRTC technology.

4:32And that's Web Real-Time Communication.

4:35And WebRTC allows for the communication in real time between our web browsers

4:41here, along

4:42with mobile applications without the need of additional software or plugins.

4:46So, those are the different ways that we can access Microsoft Teams from end-

4:51user devices.

4:52Now, we also have other team devices.

4:55We have Microsoft Teams Rooms.

4:57So, these are devices that are made for meeting rooms of different sizes.

5:03But here we have the complete meeting experience because we have audio.

5:07We have video and content sharing.

5:09We also have Teams Android phones.

5:12So, these are desk phones that run on an Android operating system and is

5:19optimized for the Microsoft Teams environment.

5:21We also have Microsoft Teams displays.

5:23So, here we have our all-in-one touchscreen devices.

5:29So, here we have a dedicated device with a full touchscreen that allows us to

5:34access our chats,

5:35our messages, our meetings and calls, all from a single screen.

5:40You and I will look at some of these devices that Microsoft has to offer in the

5:44following video.

Microsoft Teams Rooms and Phones Overview

0:00In the previous video, you and I had started to discuss Microsoft Team Rooms

0:04and Microsoft

0:04Team phones.

0:05So in this video, take a further look at some of these devices that we can use

0:08with Microsoft

0:09Teams.

0:10So here we see some of the devices that we can use with Microsoft Teams.

0:14And the beautiful part is that these devices can be managed from a single

0:20location, that

0:21being Teams admin center that you and I will look at later in the course.

0:25First, we have Microsoft Teams Rooms.

0:27So let's take a road trip over to Microsoft's website.

0:31And here we see that we can shop by devices.

0:33I'm going to navigate over to Teams Rooms.

0:36And these devices are made for physical meeting rooms.

0:41And these rooms could be small sized rooms all the way to large rooms that can

0:48accommodate

0:49around 15 people.

0:51So here we see some of the devices that are offered by Microsoft.

0:55So we can see that we have many options here.

0:57In fact, it's navigate to a different link here.

1:00I like this page because it gives me an image of a Microsoft Teams Room.

1:07So a Teams Room usually has some type of display.

1:12We have a camera along with some type of compute device along with the audio

1:21speaker and also

1:21some type of touch controller.

1:23And I forgot here the most critical part that being a microphone.

1:30So here we have this component that you would find within a Microsoft Teams

1:35Room.

1:35All right, so let me scroll up a bit.

1:39Let's look at a small space.

1:41So we can see here an image of a small space.

1:43Let's look at medium.

1:45There's a medium space.

1:48Let's go ahead and take a look at large.

1:51So not three examples, both can come in, sit down, then use our touch

1:55controller to either

1:57join or initiate a meeting.

1:59Then a user can have a device like the laptop and then broadcast for shorter

2:05content on

2:06the screen.

2:08So Microsoft's goal here is to give you a high-end video conferencing solution.

2:13So along with the hardware, we would also need the appropriate licensing.

2:16So we're going to licensing later, but the basic license comes pre-installed on

2:22most

2:22certified Teams Room devices.

2:25And then with the Pro, that's really meant for larger organizations where we

2:28have additional

2:29features like maybe dual screen support or maybe intelligent, audio and video.

2:39So for example, we can filter our background noise or for a video, we can

2:43automatically

2:44focus on the active speaker.

2:47Now we also have Team Panels.

2:49So if I scroll back up and choose on the Panels, we see devices that will be

2:55connected to Teams

2:57rooms.

2:58So someone could walk up to a display and see details about that space.

3:02As far as its location, the availability.

3:04So in the event someone did reserve that space, you can see details about the

3:09reservation.

3:10But maybe you want to reserve that space for the upcoming Thursday Team meeting

3:15.

3:15So that slot indeed is open, but you can use the Team panel to schedule that

3:21meeting.

3:21Now we also have Team displays.

3:26So I'll find a display here, and there will be an all-in-one device.

3:31So here we have an example of one right here.

3:33So these are all-in-one devices.

3:36They are intended to be used, but in smaller sized rooms or office desks.

3:41So here we can access all the core features on Microsoft Teams to include chat,

3:45meeting,

3:46calls, team channels and much more.

3:49We also have voice commands that we can speak into most of these devices.

3:54Now we also have intelligent speakers.

3:56So let me go to Room System Accessories.

4:00Let me do a search for intelligent.

4:07And here we have one here, but what makes this speaker intelligent?

4:10So this device here can take meeting notes.

4:16What's really cool, these speakers can also differentiate between speakers in

4:21the room

4:22and automatically transcribe your whole entire meeting in touch format.

4:28We also have a content camera.

4:34And here's one here.

4:35Let's see if we can get a close up of it.

4:38All right.

4:39So we can see here that the device here is right over this whiteboard.

4:44And what this can do is capture content that's presented in the physical

4:48meeting room.

4:50So if someone was here writing notes on the board and it's content camera, I

4:54can show

4:55whoever's being written on the board within the Microsoft Teams meeting.

5:01Now we also have speaker phones.

5:06So maybe you bring your laptop into a room where there's four people and the

5:10speaker

5:11on your laptop may not be enough for others to hear.

5:15So we can get a speaker that will help with the quality of the audio,

5:19especially in the

5:20room with multiple people.

5:22Therefore not degrading our meeting experience.

5:24And then finally, we have team desk phones.

5:29So these are physical phones that are intended to work for Microsoft Teams.

5:34So maybe you come from an environment where everyone's accustomed to having a

5:38desk phone.

5:38So these phones come with high definition audio with touch screens with

5:42physical buttons.

5:44So maybe you have a retail environment with a bunch of phones.

5:48That will be a good environment for physical desk phones based on different

5:52terminals, for

5:53example.

5:54Or maybe you have management staff.

5:56They have next offices and they want a physical desk phone to conduct business

6:02room.

6:02Or maybe you have a receptionist.

6:06And that person has to constantly answer phone calls every single day,

6:09transform to different

6:10destinations within your organization.

6:12So so many phones do have video capabilities because they have cameras.

6:18But also they all come with encryption and a possibility to use multi factor

6:23authentication

6:25to really protect your network from unauthorized access.

6:28But you may ask the question, what about migrating to Microsoft Teams, but my

6:32business is already

6:33invested in physical endpoints for my users.

6:39So here we ask some devices that are certified to work for Microsoft Teams.

6:45So here we're looking at headsets on different vendors.

6:48Let me take you to another link here.

6:53We have the ability to use a septic wave, which is a surface that allows

6:57compatible

6:58zip devices to connect to Microsoft Teams.

7:01So if I scroll down a bit here, we see another list.

7:06And here we see some of the Cisco phones that were able to use with Microsoft

7:09Teams.

7:10And we can see the popular 8800 series right here.

7:14Keep in mind, it does require these phones to run a certain firmware in order

7:18for it to

7:19be able to function or operate with Microsoft Teams.

7:23So we see Cisco here, we also see Polly, we scroll down a bit.

7:28We have different vendors here.

7:29So they're take away being that these third party devices that your business

7:33has invested

7:34in, they're certified and also work with Microsoft Teams.

7:39So in this video, we looked at a few devices that can work for Microsoft Teams.

7:44Many devices cover a wide range of scenarios that was either for a single user

7:48or for a

7:48mini-room.

7:49[BLANK_AUDIO]

Validation

0:00Next, you and I will finish this skill by going to a validations section.

0:03So in this section, we ask you a series of questions.

0:06So my hope was that you paused the video, wrote down your answers, and now you

0:09're watching

0:09this validation video so we can compare them.

0:12Let's get started in that one.

0:15So in our first question, your boss grabs a user a cup of coffee, passes by

0:20your cubicle,

0:21but you told that your company wants to go in a different direction from

0:24meetings.

0:25And you will ask if you know what type of meetings and events Microsoft team

0:31offers.

0:32So earlier in the skill, we saw that we have team meetings.

0:36We also had breakout rooms.

0:41We also had team webinars along with town halls and also virtual appointments.

0:52So we can see here that Microsoft has several offerings when it comes to

0:56meetings.

0:56So if your answers are aligned with mine, then great job.

1:00So we're on this question here.

1:02Your organization is considering migrating to Microsoft Teams.

1:06You are tasked with presenting an next team meeting and outlining the

1:10organization's options

1:11for making outbound calls.

1:16So here we have the option of going with calling plans.

1:21So this is where we subscribe to a clouding plan directly from Microsoft.

1:26We also have operator connect.

1:30This is where we're using a proof to the com provider that offers services

1:34directly to

1:35our team phone users.

1:37We also have teams phone mobile.

1:41So here folks are using their own mobile data plan or their Wi-Fi connection to

1:46use Microsoft

1:46teams.

1:47Then we also have their Red Roddy.

1:51So here we're using our existing infrastructure along to our own connection to

1:56an ITSP in order

1:57to make outbound calls.

1:58So once again, I hope that you came up with the same answers and if so, good

2:05job.

2:05For question three, what are two options for Microsoft Teams to manage incoming

2:10calls into

2:10our organization?

2:12Remember, we have call queues along with auto attendance.

2:18So we call queues.

2:19We have the ability to queue call in the event that the team member agent is

2:23busy or unavailable.

2:24Then we have auto attendance where a caller can call into your environment,

2:28then choose

2:29an option off the menu to either route to a specific department or to dial by

2:33extension

2:34or name.

2:35Then in question four, where are some devices that can be used with Microsoft

2:40Teams?

2:41So some of the options for Teams rooms, this is where we have rooms dedicated

2:46to conduct

2:47meetings.

2:48And if you remember, we had different hardware depending on the size of that

2:52meeting room.

2:53We also have Teams panels.

2:57So a user could walk up to a panel and see if the room is occupied or scheduled

3:02for a

3:02meeting or that room was available at a certain time and a user could book that

3:07meeting on

3:08the panel itself.

3:09We also had Teams displays.

3:13These are those all in one devices that can be used for either rooms or desks

3:18that will

3:19allow you to use Team chats, Team calls, Team calendars, all on a single

3:23dedicated device.

3:25Then we also have conference phones along with desk phones.

3:30So actually I didn't show you a conference phone, but we'll see one in the

3:33future skill

3:34in this course.

3:35For a conference phone, give us a dedicated device that's really focused on

3:39audio conferencing.

3:40These phones ordinarily have a better audio quality than desk phones.

3:43For the reason being, they're made specifically for conference calls.

3:48So Microsoft offers a range of desk phones that we can use in the event there

3:51business

3:52requires for our users to have physical desk phones.

3:56So with that, about it, ladies and gentlemen, I hope that you did great and I

3:59will see you

4:00in next skill.
