Are Juniper certs like the JNCIS-SP exclusive to Juniper tech and networks?

Understanding those protocols deeply on Junos means you can transfer that knowledge to other gear more easily. If you never touch Juniper equipment and don’t plan to, the credential itself won’t carry as much weight.

What is the passing score for the JNCIS-SP exam?

Juniper doesn’t publish the exact score necessary to pass its exams, but the passing score for JN0-364 (the JNCIS-SP exam) seems to be between 60 and 70%. The exam has 65 multiple-choice questions and lasts 90 minutes. It’s not designed to trick you, but it is a challenging exam. If you’ve worked hands-on with IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and Junos routing policy, the exam feels fair. If your experience is mostly theoretical, it can feel tougher. A JNCIS-SP course like this one will help a lot, providing you practical hands-on demonstrations along with intentional exam prep.

What is the highest level of Juniper certification?

The highest Juniper certification level is the Juniper Networks Certified Expert (JNCIE). In the service provider track, that would be JNCIE-SP. It’s a lab-based exam, hands-on, and quite a lot more demanding than written exams like JNCIS-SP. You configure and troubleshoot live networks under time pressure. It’s comparable in prestige and difficulty to Cisco’s CCIE. JNCIE is aimed at senior engineers and architects who design and operate large-scale networks. JNCIS-SP training like this is a solid mid-level step on that path.

Are Juniper certifications worth it?

Yes, they’re worth it if they align with your job market. If you work for an ISP, telecom, large cloud provider, or an enterprise that runs Juniper gear, they can absolutely pay off. They show you understand core routing and service provider technologies at depth. If your environment is entirely Cisco and unlikely to change, a Juniper cert may not move the needle much for you. Vendor certs are tools, not trophies. The value comes from the skills you build, not just the logo on your resume.
